Manufacturing is one of the least developed industries in Ethiopia. Therefore, the Ethiopian government has ratified rules and regulations which ensure maximum possible incentive schemes in order to encourage investors willing to actively engage in this economic sector. Taking this government incentive policy in to consideration, Belayneh Kindie Import & Export is undertaking the construction of edible oil factory at Bure town in Amahara National Regional State in partnership with a London based HUYTON INC with initial investment of USD 60 million.
The main objective of the establishment of the factory is to meet the domestic demand of fresh edible oil and then to export to the global market. In addition, the country imports a huge amount of soap from abroad. When the factory starts its operation, the country will minimize hard currency which was previously used for import of edible oil, soap and detergents.
